Description

The 2025 edition of the Midlands Regional Meeting of the London Mathematical Society, also supported by the UKRI/EPSRC, is taking place in the historic city of Lincoln.

The Society's Meeting is followed by the Research Workshop Groups in the Midlands. The event aims at covering recent developments from different branches of some of Lincoln's core research areas: algebra and group theory.

Speakers and Format

This two-part event takes place from 17 to 20 June 2025 at the University of Lincoln, UK. Lectures on the first day (Tuesday, 17 June) are aimed at a general mathematical audience — all interested (both LMS members and non-members) are most welcome to attend.

The Research Workshop takes place from 18 to 20 June 2025 (same venue) and is particularly geared towards early career researchers, with ample oportunity to meet experts and peers. Some financial support is available for UK-based junior participants and LMS members.

LMS Midlands Regional Meeting

The first day features lectures by and talks take place in the Main Lecture Hall, INB0114, of the Isaac Newton Building.

Workshop "Groups in the Midlands"

The follow-up workshop features research mini-courses by Oihana Garaialde Ocaña, Simon Smith, and Stephane Tornier along with research talks by early career mathematicians.

Full Programme

The Society Meeting starts on Tuesday (17 June) afternoon, around 13:00 past lunch time, allowing for time to arrive in Lincoln. It continues with the workshop on Wednesday (18 June), and ends mid-afternoon on Friday (20 June).

A reception shall take place at the end of the first day, followed by a Society Dinner.

Location

The event will be hosted by the University of Lincoln on the Brayford Pool Campus.

All talks and breaks on the first day will take place in the Lecture Hall INB0114 in the Isaac Newton Building.

Talks and breaks of the Research Workshop will take place in rooms LMS0005 (of the Medical School Building, right across the Pond) and INB1103 (of the Isaac Newton Building).
